It sounds pretty good, too, though other slightly more expensive models beat the Braven's audio quality. Design Measuring 6.25 x 2.5 x 1.75 inches, the rectangular Braven 570 is both small and light. The plastic covering feels slightly flimsy compared to the metal or hard rubber that many portable Bluetooth players use to protect the drivers (including Braven's 670 and 750 series), but that's the trade-off for knocking off a few ounces. Braven put the buttons and ports on the sides of the speaker — and the company didn't leave much out. On the right side, you'll find the power switch, volume controls, a microUSB port for charging the battery, and a 3.5mm port for a wired connection to a computer, mobile device or other audio source. The right also features a button to answer calls. That's a lot of buttons and ports for a small space, and we found they required some dexterity. In addition to the buttons, Braven put a status indicator light below the call button, which blinks to indicate it's connected to a Bluetooth source. Setup and Use The Braven 570 paired quickly with our iOS and Android devices. To put the speaker into discovery mode, hold the call button on the right side of the 570 until you see a flashing light and hear a repeating tone. Braven claims a wireless range of 30 feet for the 570, and we found that it maintained a strong connection from at least as far as 25 feet away with a clear line of sight. That's on a par with most portable Bluetooth speakers. Audio Performance The Braven 570 delivers average audio performance for models in its price range. With 6 watts per driver (the same as the Flip 2), the 570 can get loud for a small speaker. The 600 is truly an exceptional device, and they are currently unavailable it would seem. I was using a Toslink converter to convert the optical out of an Apple TV to analog then slave stereo into the 600 daisey chained to the 570 to watch movies over AirPlay in a hotel room. Didn't really work, neither speakers sound good on analog slave input with the charger lead in place. This is fine if the speakers are running on battery mode, sound is much better, and to be clear the Braven 600 and 570 both sound better running on Bluetooth rather than in analog slave mode. After two weeks of testing my solution is to give away the 570 because it is a perfectly fine, high quality Bluetooth speaker, even though it came with no recharge unit, recharge cable yes, recharge transformer no.Use it about every day. Great for the bathroom when I shower. Sounds natural, especially when listening to talk shows. Like having the person in the room with you. I bought this one for a friend, they liked mine so much. Great battery life and decent range for my small apartment. Pairing my iphone and pc laptop is kinda wonky, but I can have two iphones paired no problem. Nice product. One major setback for it is that after about a year of use, things start to fail on it. My brother in law is on his third one. He has sent 2 Braven in for warranty replacement. It does not have a Thumping Bass and will not fill an arena but for a tiny light box it is amazing. The Volume is plenty loud on full and does not distort. It has a great tone and cystal treble, very clear mids and a nice bass, It is essential to place it close to a wall though or corner to get the full sound. I can also use the graphic equaliser on my Windows phone if I plug in direct and naturally the sound quality is better and louder hard wired. The sound out will be great as well for controlling my Hi Fi. The Hands free works a treat, when a text arrives it pauses and the 570 reads out the text to me as the Nokia has voice control and I can just talk back to the speaker and even dictate a reply, assume iPhone will be similar. In summary for ?69.99 this is superb tiny piece of kit, its small enough to take anywhere and the sound belies its looks. Braven did change it for me, but it took a while and I had to ask what was happening with my unit. They said it had been sent and then returned to them. I asked why they didn't try to contact me, but in the end I was able to have another unit. For the size of the box and the sound it gives for the price, I would have been pleased. Problem is that the Bluetooth sucks big time. If the box is not within 1 or 2 feet from the source it starts screeching and disconnecting randomly which is very annoying and finally made me come here to write this review. One is a USB cable with a standard USB connection and a microUSB connection, the other is a double ended 3.5mm audio cable. The Braven 570 I got for review is black but you can get it in other colors if you would like something different. The housing of the Braven 570 is made of an impact resistant polymer which should make it durable and rugged. The microphone is located on the front, it’s hard to find, but it’s the third dot up from the Braven 570 logo in the right corner. The microphone does feature noise cancelling. The Braven 570 has two three watt speakers inside of it so it should get pretty loud. The dimensions are 6.25 in. x 2.5 in. x 1.75 in. or 15.85cm x 6.4cm x 4.5cm and it weighs 11 oz.On the right side of the speaker you’ll find the main controls. There is an power switch, phone button, plus and minus buttons along with a microUSB port and a 3.5mm audio input jack. The phone button is for answering and ending calls and for the play and pause of your music. The plus and minus buttons are for volume up and down and for skipping back and forward music tracks. There is also a tiny LED next to the phone button which is the indicator for pairing and charging. On the left side you’ll find another LED, a battery check button, a 3.5mm output jack and a standard USB port. To check the battery level you just hold the button and it will light up one of three colors. The status would be white for 50-100 charge, blue for 10-50 charge and red for 0-10 charge. Inside of the 570 there is a 1200mAh battery to charge your devices with and you would use the USB port on the left side for that. No special tips needed, as long as you have the cable you can charge your phone or other devices. This beautiful exterior comes in 6 expressive colors. Portable I used the 570 with my PS Vita and my HTC One Android phone for testing. I had no problems pairing the 570 to either device. Battery Charging: One of the great features of the Braven 570 is the fact that it’s also a portable battery and you can charge your devices from it as it has a standard USB port. One of the not so great features is the message that popped up when I went to charge my HTC One phone and that is that the Braven 570 battery charges the phone slower than normal. Sure you’ll get power from it just not the speeds you might be accustomed to with a regular charger or your computer USB port. Controls: The controls are basic but they seem to work fine with my HTC One Android phone, in fact they work exactly as the manual says they will. The was a bit of confusion for me in regards to the controls. The plus is skip track and the minus is skip back. To use then as volume you just press, to use for skipping you have to hold for a second or so. The skip track worked fine it skipped to the next song. The skip back didn’t skip to the preceding track but just restarted the song I was playing, so it skipped back to the beginning. Sound: The first thing I did was play games on my PS Vita with the Braven 570 and the sound was very full and very good. I could control the volume either on the Vita or the speaker itself. Next thing I did was pair it to my HTC One to play music and I found the sound was just excellent. The bass is very full and there are notable highs in the music and I found there is little to no distortion at high volume levels. Overall I have to say the sound is vey balanced and just excellent really. The 570 is a great speaker in my opinion. Calls through the Braven 570 sounded very good, even better than the HTC One. No problems there at all. Besides being a great speaker the Braven 570 is also a battery pack to keep your devices charged. The battery works fine to keep things charged but might be slower than what you’re accustomed to, it all depends on the devices you’re charging. The built-in battery is a nice feature to have but I personally don’t think I would ever use it. The 570 has both input and output 3. 5mm jacks so you can use it with devices that aren’t equipped with Bluetooth or you can chain multiple speakers together for louder sound. The Braven 570 is made of an impact resistant polymer or plastic essentially that should make it rugged and durable, you could easily just toss this in your bag and it will be safe. The sound from the 570 is excellent overall, there’s good bass and plenty of treble, it’s nice full and rounded sound. The price might be considered high, but if you take everything into account, it’s worth it in my opinion. Not many speaker this small actually sound as good as this one and there is little to no distortion at high volume levels. Pros. Try turning down the volume to see if audio distortion is resolved. To avoid rattling, or moving of the speaker, place the speaker on a solid, level, and hard surface. Follow the Speakers Replacement guide for a step-by-step guide to replace the speakers. Makes sure the volume on your external device is turned up. Ensure that the auxiliary cord is properly connected into both the speaker and your external device. Press and hold down the play button of the speaker you will hear a sonar-like repeating sound. Select the speaker to finish pairing. If a passcode is required, enter 0000. Access this by going to your device settings menu and switch the Bluetooth option on.If it is, turn off the Bluetooth connection on the external device that is paired, and then pair the desired device to the Bluetooth speaker. Check information on your external device to ensure that it is compatible. To turn on the Braven BRV-HD speaker, you need to press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds. Check the battery indicator lights on the side of the device. If they are not lit, then your device has no battery and will need to be charged via the charging cable and power adapter. Follow the Power Button Replacement guide for a step-by-step guide for replacing the power button. Allow the speaker to charge for 4-6 hours and then check to see if the battery indicator lights on the side of the speaker are glowing, which indicate a charge. A full charge will be indicated by 5 solid lights. If the speaker is not charging, the charging cable may be faulty or not compatible. Try using a different USB to micro USB cable to see if the speaker will charge. Try plugging the charger into a different wall outlet. If the issue persists, see other common problems about charging the device. If the USB charging cable and the wall outlet are not faulty, the power adapter may be faulty and will need to be replaced.
