When the Braun ThermoScan is placed in the ear, it continuously monitors the infrared radiation. The measurement will be finished and the result is displayed, when an accurate reading can be assured. It is therefore important to deter- mine your normal temperature range. This is easily done using Braun ThermoScan. To achieve accurate readings, make sure a new, clean lens filter (1) is in place before each measurement. From what you have described it sounds like it is showing the error for when it does not recognise a lens filter attached. You will need to attach a new, clean lens filter or if you already have, try taking it off and on again. You may also try resetting the thermometer by removing the battery and putting them back in. If you are still having trouble, please feel free to call the distributor whose details should be on the packaging who may be able to help with trouble shooting further. After the first time I used it, it has never worked since. The lens caps button is always flashing regardless of whether there is a lens cap on or not, so it will not allow you to take the temperature. I even tried buying a new pack of lens caps but it still won’t work. The pharmacy I purchased it from closed shortly after I bought it so I couldn’t return it. Is there anything I can do.
