Jason Coppage 1.0 out of 5 stars Pump is not even a close match to the ball. I too saw this in my gym and thought I wanted one at home. Should have read all the horrible reviews before I purchased. UPDATE: I used duct tape, self modified the pump and after a long time I finally got the ball pumped all the way up, BUT the plug is SO WIDE, as wide as a nickel, that it's impossible to pull the pump out and get the plug in before ALL the pressure blows out. I've tried with multiple people and multiple times. Seriously, I think this has to be a fake product. Unusable, total utter waste. Listen to all of these objective reviews, the positive reviews have to be fake. And the manufacturer may give you sub-par pump parts. I have NEVER experienced issues like this before. Pump pump pump. - However, the hose no longer firmly connects to the pump after whatever happened overnight, so now it's popping off every few pumps, which is crazy annoying as the air screeches out. - I finally get it to what I believe is optimum size. - My co-worker, trying to be helpful, tries to pry out the inflator plug in the ball, but it's stuck - Ball proceeds to deflate back to half-empty limpness amidst much cursing from 2 of us Attempt 3 - I attempt reinflation one more time that day and once again hit optimum firmness. - I ask a strong co-worker who had successfully managed to blow up one of these damn balls to help get the damn inflator plug out. - He tries, and disaster ensues. Screeching of air escaping, parts of the pump flying. And, sadly, the inflator plug is still stuck, and the ball once again drains. I am now in a complete state of disgust having wasted time blowing this thing up twice already in one day. I leave the ball like a half dead jellyfish on the floor of my office overnight. http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/72852
The sight of it now sickens me. He's literally trying to hold the hose on the ball, and keep the hose connected to the pump, while pumping. - I decide to take matters into my own hands and start poking around in my other co-worker's offices until HUZZAH. I find another pump, with different attachments than came with mine. - I run back with it, and Ball-Inflation Expert Co-worker gets it done in less than 10 mins, without even breaking a sweat. What is the moral of this story? - Beware that the pump included with your ball might totally suck, and the company is inconsistent with which version of the pump and parts they send. There are literally 15-20 of these balls in my office right now, and everyone has a different pump set up. Some obviously work better than others. - Don't be afraid to enlist help, and know you are not alone if you have a ball inflation fail. As for the ball itself, it's of average quality for sporting equipment of this type. The ballast is useful just in that the ball doesn't roll away. I will update in 3-4 months with how it's held up for durability. Good luck. The ones in my gym definitely don't have the uneven thickness.Anyway, I bumped it up an extra star. I also agree with all the reviews about the pump. It is pretty bad. On a side note, most inflatable items, even cheap ones, have a flap on the inside to keep air from escaping once you remove the nozzle to place a cap on. I don't think it would be that costly for Bosu to add that to their product. Cosmetic issues aside, I think it'll probably still hold up fine and I bought it for exercise, not for asthetics.I got this ball because I'm 33 weeks pregnant and doing hypnobirthing. A part of the relaxation exercise is imagining you are in a bubble of peace. This ball looked like a bubble so I immediately was drawn to that. I love bosu products. They are in every gym I've ever been to and are really good quality. I read the reviews and got scared. http://geoanis.com/images/bosu-training-manual.pdf
My boyfriend is a pilot and is almost never at home so I worried about the difficulty of inflating it. Showed the pump that came with mine. It worked fine. The plug was a pain to pull out but mostly because I have gestational diabetes and my fingers are really sore from blood pricks but I managed ok. Took like 5 minutes. I was successful at following all the instructions and getting it inflated. I was afraid it would be slimy but it wasn't maybe a little residue of something kind of like some pool toys. Just to make sure it didn't pick up all the dog hair I wiped it down with a wet rag and dried it. I wish they had a 75 cm one bubble colored. That's really the main reason for 4 stars instead of 5 as it's a bit pricey compared to other balls out there though I expect it will last well. I blame the US education system for not really knowing what 65 cm was in the first place. See photo for reference. It's pretty, it's sturdy, I like it as a resistance ball, will have to see how it works out for hypno birthing.Inflating this ball is next to impossible. The value is too big,and the pump is next to useless unless you have 4 hours to inflate it. Having said that, I developed a work around. Use an electric tire inflator, and use a latex glove to help create a proper seal between the inflator nozzle and the valve opening. Wrap the latex glove around the nozzle until you get the proper seal. When your ball is fully inflated, you have to pull the nozzle out quickly and put the plug in quickly because the valve opening is HUGE. If you don't do it quickly, you will lose a lot of air and have to re-inflate it again. Also, the instruction manual refers to a plug remover, I couldn't find one in the packaging. I send an email to the seller and they said that one is available to purchase on their website. (Ugh). There is a simple remedy to this, use a spoon to remove the plug. It doesn't have any sharp edges and wont damage your ball. redesign the valve opening so its easier to fill.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again This thingy was purchased by accident as I wanted the bosu ball (the one that is half a ball), but lucky for me it came with a cd and WOW it is fantastic. I can do so many different exercises for core and balancing which I never knew and I have been dabbling with work out a off and on for 15 years. Just to inform you it is not easy to master the techniques at first but I have had it for over a month and now I can see differences in the taking care of my home, general sports and just overal I feel great and cannot wait till I hit my target. This should not be considered an all in one solution for weight loss or toning it most certainly helps a lot but more so in conjunction with other activities.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Even though I got the wrong one, I kept it because it is a vast improvement over my other stability ball for the following improvements 1) it doesn't slip around, so I feel more secure while using it 2) the sand in the bottom gives it extra weight and stability. I'd recommend this over other stability balls for those reasons and I think it is a decent price as well.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Wish I had gotten the larger size. The only downside was filling it with air, beyond hard to do as you fill it and then have to move at the speed of light to get the stopper in before all the air escapes. Took me half an hour to fill it to the right pressure. On the bright side if you have to deflate it for any reason it will be quick as pie. I also don't like the stopper as I don't feel like it is secure.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Both sides offer plenty of options to work your core and improve flexibility. You can use it dome-side-up almost like a step and stand on it, sit on it, lie down on it or bounce around on it for cardio, lower body strength, or core moves. Or, you can turn it over and use the platform side for upper body exercises, like push-ups, or more core moves, like planks. Some ideas include:Strength training: Add a whole new challenge to your strength workouts with moves like squats with an overhead press, lunges with biceps curls, or pushups. You can even use it as a weight bench to add a balance challenge during traditional weight work like chest presses. Flexibility: Stand or kneel on the dome while doing traditional stretches like hamstring stretches or hip flexor stretches. This also adds instability to the exercise, so you should practice these while standing next to a wall until you get used to it. Sports Conditioning: Use it to perform sports drills, like jumping or plyometric movies like side leaps to increase performance and agility. Core training: Use it for abdominal exercises like dead bug and v-sits, or for lower back exercises such as back extensions to target the core muscles. ? ? Just standing on it is challenging, as your body moves and shifts into and out of balance. This awareness is something that often declines as we age, so the Balance Trainer can help you stay connected with how your body moves. ? ? Proprioception: This describes your awareness or cognizance of joint position in response to the body's actions. ? ? When you stand on a Balance Trainer, the stabilizer muscles in your ankles co-contract with your primary muscles to stabilize the joints and maintain your balance. This helps to make normal activities easier. You can use it in place of a step for aerobic workouts (very tough) and while doing some traditional yoga poses, like Warrior II and Triangle. It makes the workouts challenging and interesting. You can also find detailed exercises and other BOSU products at BOSU.com.The workout is a bit dance-like but includes sports-like moves as well. This is a great introduction to cardio on the Balance Trainer, though some reviewers say you may want to have some experience with the BOSU ball first.
