Do not use the measuring tool if the display glass is visibly damaged (e.g. cracks in the surface, etc.). This poses a risk of injury. T o open the bat tery lid, press the latch in the dir ection of the arro w and remov e the bat tery lid. Insert the batt eries. When inser ting, pay at tention t o the correct polarity according to the repr esentation on the inside of the bat tery compar tment. When the bat tery symbol appears f or the first time on the display, measur ements are still possib le for appro x. 1 5 minut es. When the bat tery symbol f lashes, the bat teries must be replaced; measur ements are no longer possible. Alw ays r eplace all batt eries at the same time. Onl y use batter ies from one brand and with the identical capacity. Remo ve the bat teries fr om the tool when not using it f or extended per iods. When storing f or ext ended per iods, the bat teries can corrode and dischar ge themselves. Operation Pr otect the tool a gainst moisture and direct sun ir radiation. Do not subject the tool t o extreme t emperat ures or var iations in temperat ure. As an example, do not leave it in vehicles for longer periods. In case of large variations in temperature, allow the tool to adjust to the ambient temperature before putting it into operation. After switching on, the rear edge of the measuring tool is preset as the reference level for the measurement. To change the reference level, see “Selecting the Reference Level”, page 22. Do not point the laser beam at persons or animals and do not look into the laser beam yourself, not even from a large distance. Note: The measured value typically appears within 0.5 s and no later than approx. 4 s. The duration of the measurement depends on the distance, the lighting conditions and the reflective properties of the target surface. Upon completion of the measurement, the laser beam is automatically switched off. The continuously switched-on laser beam is not switched off after the measurement (see “Continuous Laser Beam”, page 23).Do not point the laser beam at persons or animals and do not look into the laser beam yourself, not even from a large distance.Select the timer function in the settings. The measurement will begin after the set time period has expired. The measured value is displayed in the result line a. The time period between triggering the timer and starting measurement is displayed in the status bar at the top. The timer remains enabled until the measuring tool is switched off or until the timer is switched off in the menu “settings”. Digital Viewfinder To switch on the digital viewfinder 19, press the digital viewfinder button 10. The digital viewfinder 19 is optimized for the detection of the laser point from a distance and therefore has a small visual field. Optimizing visibility of the laser beam Especially when using the measuring tool outdoors, in sunlight and also over long distances indoors, it may be that the laser point is not visible.Select the desired tool setting. Setting the date and time Select the date and time in the basic settings (general settings).Unit of measure “in” (inches) is set by default. The selected setting remains saved after you switch off the measuring tool. Changing the Angle Unit Select the “Angle unit” in the tool settings. Data transmission is only possible with the corresponding app or the corresponding PC program. After exchanging the batteries, the tool has to be switched on shortly to re-activate TrackMyTools. TrackMyTools can be disabled at any time. Display Illumination Select the display illumination in the basic settings (general settings). The display illumination is continuously switched on. When no button is pressed, the display illumination is dimmed after approx. 30 seconds to preserve the batteries. The time until start of dimming is adjustable (tool settings).The animation shows y ou the detailed procedur e for the select ed measuring function. The animation can be stopped and started again at an y time. Length Measurement Select the length measurement. The measured v alue will be shown at the bot tom of the display. Repeat the abo ve-mentioned steps f or each subsequent measurement. The last measur ed value is at the bot tom of the displa y, the penultimate measured v alue is abov e it, and so on. Continuous Measurement (T racking) For contin uous measurements, the measuring tool can be mo ved relativ e to the tar get, whereb y the measur ing v alue is updated appro x. e very 0.5 seconds. In this manner, as an ex ample, y ou can mov e a cer tain distance a wa y from a wall, while the actual distance can alw ay s be read. Select the continuous measurement. The current measured value will be sho wn at the bott om of the display. There ar e four measuring functions av ailable f or the indirect distance measurement, each of which is capab le of determining dif fer ent distances. The indirect distance measur ement is used to measur e distances that cannot be measured dir ectly because an obstacle would obstruct the laser beam or no target surf ace is av ailable as a ref lector. This measuring procedur e can only be used in vertical direction.Depending on application, great er measuring errors ar e possible than with dir ect distance measurement. T o impro ve the measuring accuracy, we recommend using a tripod (accessor y). The laser beam remains s witched on bet ween the individual measurements.Ensure that the measuring tool is at the same height as the lower measuring point. Y ou can measure an y number of lengths LX, which will be automaticall y added and multiplied by the height H. The requir ement for a corr ect area calculation is that the fir st measured length (f or ex ample the ceiling height H ) is identical for all sub-ar eas. Stake out function (see f igure G) The stake out function r epeatedl y measures a defined length (distance). These lengths can be transf erred t o a surface, for e xample t o enable mat erial to be cut into pieces of equal lengths or to install stud w alls in a dr yw all constr uction. The minimum adjustab le length is 3.2 ft (0,1m), the maxim um adjustable length is 1 64 f t (50m). Select the stake out function. Set the desired length. The defined length and the current measur ed value ar e thereby display ed. The lower or upper arr ow displa ys the shor t est distance to the ne xt or last marking. Note: The continuous measuring enabl es you to set a measured v alue as a defined length by pr essing the but ton 3. 1?04? 1?04? 1x The lef t fact or specifies how man y times the defined length has alr eady been reached. The green arr ows on either side of the displa y indicate the reaching of a length f or marking pur poses. If the display flashes during measurement, the measuring tool has been tipped too hea vily to the side. Memory F unctions The value or end r esult of each completed measur ement is automaticall y sav ed. Tip: Y ou can save y our measurement as a phot o for r efer ence. Memory value display A maximum of 50 v alues can be retriev ed (measured v alues or photos with measur ed values. If there is no v alue av ailable in the memory, “0.0 0 0” is shown at the bot tom of the displa y and “0” at the top. The oldest value is locat ed in position 1 in the memor y, while the newest v alue is in position 50 (when 50 memory values are av ailable). When a further value is sa ved, the oldest v alue in the memory is alwa ys deleted. T o delete all values st ored in the memory, the function can be used. Measure the ar ea as described in section “ Ar ea Measurement”, see page 28. Once the second measurement is complet ed, the result of the second area measur ement is display ed below. The subsequent steps are the same as f or “ Adding V alues”. This can be possible due t o the distance bet ween both de vices or the object being measured. The special Bosch “Measuring Mast er” app is a vailab le to ext end the range of functions of the mobile end de vice and to make data easier t o process. Y ou can download this from the stor e for y our end device type. If multiple activ e measur ing t ools are f ound, select the appropriate measuring tool using the serial number. The connection status, as w ell as the active connection ( f ), are shown in the displa y 1 of the measuring tool.The measuring t ool is equipped with a radio interface. Local operating r estrictions, e.g. in airplanes or hospitals, are t o be observed. General Inf ormation The reception lens 20, the laser beam output 18 and the digital viewfinder 19 must not be cov ered during measurement. The measuring tool m ust not be mov ed while taking a measurement. Ther efor e, place the measuring tool, as f ar as this is possible, against or on a firm stop or supporting surface. Influence Ef fects on the Measuring Range The measuring range depends on the lighting conditions and the ref lective properties of the target surf ace. F or bet ter visibility of the laser beam in strong extr aneous light, use the integr ated digital viewfinder 19, the laser vie wing glasses 26 (accessory) and the laser target plate 25 (accessory) or shade the target ar ea. Influence Ef fects on the Measuring Result Due t o phy sical eff ects, f aulty measurements cannot be ex cluded when measuring on dif fer ent surfaces. If requir ed, use the laser target plat e 25 (accessor y) on these surfaces. F ur thermore, f aulty measurements are also possib le when sighting inclined target surf aces. This is done by carrying out a re ver sal measurement. F or this, place the measuring tool on a tab le and measure the grade. F or this, select CA L. F ollow the instructions on the display. Af ter se ver e temperature changes and impact, we recommend an accuracy chec k and, if required, t o recalibrat e the measuring tool. Af t er a temperatur e change, the measuring tool must acclimate f or a while befor e calibrating. If the laser point is not inside the target indicat or, you must recalibrat e the target indicat or. W orking with the T ripod (A ccessory) The use of a tripod is par ticularly necessary for larger dist ances. Tight en the measuring tool with the locking scre w of the quick-change plate. The angle between the laser beam and the target is too acute. Enlarge the angle between the laser beam and the target. The target surface reflects too intensely (e.g. a mirror) or insufficiently (e.g. black fabric), or the ambient light is too bright. Work with the laser target plate 25 (accessory). Divide calculation into intermediate steps. “CAL” and “ERROR” indication in the display The calibration of the grade measurement was not carried out in the correct sequence or in the correct positions.Repeat the calibration on a horizontal or vertical surface; if required, check the surface first with a level. The measuring tool was moved or tilted while pressing the button. Repeat the calibration and hold the measuring tool in place while pressing the button. Change the measuring tool’s battery.Laser beam output 18, reception lens 20 or digital viewfinder 19 is covered. Keep the laser beam output 18, reception lens 20 and digital viewfinder 19 clear. Wrong reference level set. Select reference level that corresponds to measurement. Obstruction in path of laser beam. Laser point must be completely on target surface. The measuring tool monitors the correct function for each measurement. When a defect is determined, only the symbol shown aside flashes in the display. Do not immerse the measuring t ool into w ater or other fluids. Wipe of f debris using a moist and soft c loth. Do not use an y cleaning agents or solv ents. T ake extra special car e when cleaning the r eception lens 20, the laser beam exit opening 1 8 and the viewf inder 19: Ensure that ther e is no lint on the reception lens, the laser beam exit opening and the digital viewf inder. Clean the reception lens, the laser beam exit opening and the vie wfinder only with c leaning agents which are also suitable f or camera lenses. Do not att empt to remo ve dirt from the r eception lens, the laser beam exit opening and the viewf inder using pointed objects, and do not wipe over the r eception lens, the laser beam exit opening and the viewf inder (risk of scr atching). If the measuring t ool should fail despite the car e taken in manufact uring and tes ting procedur es, r epair should be carried out b y an authorized af ter-sales service center f or Bosch pow er tools. Do not open the measuring t ool yourself. In all corr espondence and spare parts orders, please alw ays include the 1 0-digit ar ticle n umber given on the type plate of the measuring t ool. ENVIRONMENT PR OTECTION Recycle raw materials and batteries instead of disposing of waste.Bosch will ext end warranty cov erage to two (2) years when y ou regist er your product within eight (8) weeks af ter dat e of purchase.
